Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim, is a lovely hill town placed at an elevation of 5,410 ft in Eastern region of the state. Gangtok became the capital city when Sikkim merged with the India in 1975. Gangtok has emerged as a thriving capital town and has experienced incredible advancement of lifestyle. The city is a peaceful place with a mix of different cultures, languages and ethnicity.  Nepalese, Lepchas and Bhutias are the main communities of Sikkim.

The colourful city of Gangtok spreads over a woody mountain that is ornamented with the Mount Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the globe. Kanchenjunga and other Himalayan snow peaks can be viewed from various magnificent view points in and around Gangtok. In fact every spur extending from this hill town offers a setting of a great sight.

The heartthrob of the town is Mahatma Gandhi Road popularly known as M.G. Marg, that is a wide stretch of open walkway with proper beautiful sitting arrangements. Only the pedestrians are allowed to walk through the Marg, the vehicles are not permitted to enter.

Hanuman Tok is located in such a place which helps spectators to have a wonderful glimpse of the town.   Whereas, the cable car service in Deorali offers breath taking trip to the tourists that gives a superb aerial glimpse of entire town.  Rumtek Monastery, Himalayan Zoological Park, Institute of Tibetology, Tashi View Point, Banjhakri Waterfalls are the points of interest in and around the town for every tourist. The colourful extravaganza like Red Panda Festival, Gangtok Food and Culture Festival including art and music festivals give poignant experience that encompass the rich tradition, culture and art life of the Himalayan state of Sikkim.

The veteran musician AR Rahman has been declared as the Brand Ambassador for the state amid Red Panda Festival this year.

Itinerary

Day 1New Jalpaiguri Station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport (IXB) - Gangtok

Meet and Greet on arrival and transfer to Gangtok – The Capital of Sikkim. After arrival in Gangtok we check in at the hotel, following which the rest of the day can be spent at leisure. Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Day 2In Gangtok - Local Sightseeing (9:00 AM to 4:00 PM)

After breakfast we start a leisurely tour of Gangtok town covering Tashi View Point, Ganesh Tok, Hanuman Tok, Ban Jhakri Falls, Institute of Tibetology (closed on Sunday and Govt. holidays), Do Drul Chorten, Handicraft Emporium, (closed on Sunday and Govt. holidays) and Flower Show. After the tour, we return to the hotel following which the rest of the day can be spent at leisure. Overnight in Gangtok.

Day 3Excursion to Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir (7:30AM to 4:00PM)

Today we go an excursion drive to Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir. Tsomgo Lake also known as Changu Lake is a glacial lake in the East Sikkim district, some 40 kilometres (25 mi) from the capital Gangtok. The lake is surrounded by steep mountains which are covered with snow during winter. During summer the snow cover melts and forms the source for the lake. From here we drive further to Baba Mandir. Baba Mandir is a shrine built in honour of Major “Baba” Harbhajan Singh who died in 1968. Many believe that his believe his spirit protects every soldier in the inhospitable high-altitude terrain of the Eastern Himalayas. After the tour we return to our hotel in Gangtok. Overnight in Gangtok.

Day 4Gangtok - New Jalpaiguri Station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport (IXB)

Morning is free for the guest for packing & personal activities. After breakfast transfer to New Jalpaiguri Station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport (IXB) for onward journey back home. Tour Ends.
