Gangtok

The colourful city of Gangtok spreads over a woody mountain that is ornamented with the Mount Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the globe. Kanchenjunga and other Himalayan snow peaks can be viewed from various magnificent view points in and around Gangtok.

In fact every spur extending from this hill town offers a setting of a great sight. The heart-throb of the town is Mahatma Gandhi Road popularly known as M.G. Marg, that is a wide stretch of open walkway with proper beautiful sitting arrangements.

AR Rahman, the living legend of world music is the Brand Ambassador for Sikkim.

Pelling

Pelling is a small hill hamlet in West Sikkim. Pelling is settled at an altitude of 2,150 m (7,200 feet). The hamlet is located at a distance of 10 km from Geyzing and 36km from Gangtok.

With the arrival of tourists, the region is undergoing a transformation, with the infrastructures being mended and hotels being established.

The Himalayas and the Kanchenjanga may be watched at close quarters from Pelling. Pelling also forms the base from where explorers and other traveling peoples commence the energetic and difficult treks in West Sikkim. The land around Pelling is still a virgin terrain and is bathed with mountainous flora, with many cascades lining the hillside. In the months of winter, Pelling is covered with a blanket of snow.

Pelling is 115 km from the state capital Gangtok and about 135 km from Siliguri, the nearest railhead and airport. Regular jeeps connect Pelling to the towns of Jorethang, Kalimpong and Namchi. The nearest airport is Bagdogra airport.

Most of the people of Pelling are Buddhists and speak the Sikkimese language. Other languages spoken are Nepali, Hindi, and English.

Darjeeling

The heartthrob of Darjeeling is Mall which is linked with the most happening place – Chowrasta. Chowrasta is a flat open square, a pedestrian only zone free of vehicular traffic and surrounded by colorful attractive shopping points with backdrop of awesome mountains and green valleys.

One can explore colonial-era architecture, Buddhist monasteries, and spot snow leopards, Royal Bengal Tiger and rare red pandas at the Padmaja Naidu Zoo. The adventurous can arrange a visit striking Singalila Ridge. The weather in Darjeeling is enjoyably cool and flawless for travel during spring, summer and autumn. One can come to enjoy the Darjeeling monsoon during the monsoon seasons and Darjeeling Chill in the winter.

Historical sites like Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Japanese Pegoda, and British era  District Library, Ava Art Gallery, Burdwan Palace, etc. are icing over cake in a trip to Darjeeling.

Itinerary

Day 1New Jalpaiguri Station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport (IXB) - Gangtok

Meet and Greet on arrival and transfer to Gangtok – The Capital of Sikkim. After arrival in Gangtok we check in at the hotel, following which the rest of the day can be spent at leisure. Overnight stay in Gangtok

Day 2: Excursion to Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir (7:30AM to 4:00PM)

Today we go an excursion drive to Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir. Tsomgo Lake also known as Changu Lake is a glacial lake in the East Sikkim district, some 40 kilometres (25 mi) from the capital Gangtok. The lake is surrounded by steep mountains which are covered with snow during winter. During summer the snow cover melts and forms the source for the lake. From here we drive further to Baba Mandir. Baba Mandir is a shrine built in honour of Major “Baba” Harbhajan Singh who died in 1968. Many believe that his believe his spirit protects every soldier in the inhospitable high-altitude terrain of the Eastern Himalayas. After the tour we return to our hotel in Gangtok. Overnight in Gangtok.

Day 3Gangtok to Pelling via Namchi

After breakfast we check out of hotel in Gangtok and transfer to Pelling via Namchi. In Namchi we visit Char Dham and Samdruptse. After the tour we drive further to Pelling. After arrival in Pelling we check in at the hotel following which the rest of the day can be spent at leisure. Overnight in Pelling.

Day 4In Pelling - Local Sightseeing (9:00AM to 4:00PM)

This day is reserved for a leisurely tour of Pelling town and its surroundings. We visit the famous Pemayangtse Monastery and Rabdentse Ruins. We also visit Khecheopalri Lake, Kanchenjunga Fall and Rimbi Waterfall. After the tour, we return to the hotel. Overnight in Pelling.

Day 5Pelling - Darjeeling (80 kms, 5 hrs)

After Breakfast we check out of our hotel in Pelling and transfer to Darjeeling. Lunch can be had en-route. After arrival in Darjeeling, we check in at the hotel. Overnight in Darjeeling.

Day 6In Darjeeling - Local Sightseeing (4:00AM to 4:00PM)

Early Morning at 04:00 AM we visit Tiger Hill, famous for sunrise over Mt. Kanchendzonga. On our way back, we visit Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop. From here we return to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast we visit The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (closed on Thursday), PNZ Zoological Park (closed on Thursday) Tenzing Rock, Tibetans Refuge Centre (closed on Sunday), Tea Garden (outer view), Rope way, Japanese Temple and Peace Pagoda. After the tour we return to the hotel. Overnight in Darjeeling

Day 7Darjeeling - New Jalpaiguri Station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport (IXB)

Morning free for packing and personal activities. After breakfast we check out of the hotel transfer to New Jalpaiguri Station / Bagdogra Airport for return journey back home. Tour Ends
